April 2023 | The Stacking Hembury - Functional Design for Commercial Spaces

We are proud to introduce the new Stacking Hembury Chair, for spaces of any size or shape. The individually numbered Hembury shell made using 50% wool, mounted on the clean lines of a new sleek chrome plated steel frame. This update of the classic Hembury, has been remodelled to stack vertically and is suitable for commercial use.

March 2023 | Material Update - A New Fleece

The importance of using unwanted wool in our composite led us to look at other breeds that, like the Herdwick, we could use and turn their fleece into a beautiful new addition to Solidwool. After many discussions and research we came across the wool from the Welsh Mountain sheep. Extremely hardy, like the Herdwick, they live in the same open valleys and rugged hillsides of Wales today as they did centuries ago. After trials and experiments we found a way we could use their beautiful fleece in Solidwool, deciding that a new Hembury Chair and Side Table would be the perfect designs in which to show off the black and white fibres of both white and black Welsh Mountain sheep.

January 2022 | Twice as much wool

We are thrilled to share the Hembury Chair with you all once again. Now made with twice as much wool (that's the equivalent of one whole fleece in each chair!) the Hembury is ready for the world.

It’s been a long time coming – years of discussions followed by months of development, experiments and getting it just right. We have a chair we are proud of, a chair that embodies the story of Solidwool and a chair with a sensitivity towards its creation and environment.

So, worth the wait we think. Available on limited release to pre-order here

October 2021 | Material Update

Over the last 18 months, developments in our manufacturing process and improvements to base materials means we’ve had the chance to evolve the Hembury chair.

We are now using twice as much wool in each chair, so every shell made uses the equivalent of one whole fleece from the Herdwick Sheep. Advances in resin technology have allowed us to use a new bio-resin with double the biological content than previously used, additionally we have engineered the shell to use almost half the amount of resin as the original. Our new Hembury chair will have a significantly higher bio-content - plus it will be stronger, lighter along with a few new design refinements.

We’re excited, to say the least.
