New product: Solidwool Placemats and Coasters

February 02, 2024

At Solidwool we are always pulling up a chair and bringing ideas to the table, and our new placemats and coasters make the perfect addition. Like every product we create, we want to get conversations started and our new placemats and coasters are no different. Made to showcase our unique Solidwool material these latest additions are timeless pieces celebrating the numerous qualities of British Wool.

The organic tones and natural patina of Solidwool complements any surface while telling a fascinating story. For a contemporary scheme where dark colours are more prominent, our Herdwick option is ideal to tie a room together. Or for a more natural and organic look, using the Welsh Mountain Solidwool can create the perfect finishing touch.

From a Hembury chair to a Coaster, it goes without saying we put pride, time and care into everything we make. Each placemat and coaster are shaped and finished by hand and backed with FSC* certified cork. Durable and heat resistant, they are perfectly suited for everyday use in the home.

Set a place at your table with Solidwool and choose from either Herdwick or Welsh Mountain, or why not combine the two for a unique and contrasting look. The perfect gift item for others or yourself, find our new additions on our website along with all things Solidwool.

First Look: The Stacking Hembury

April 28, 2023

With a dedication to redefine heritage fibres and celebrate the numerous qualities of British Wool; the Solidwool ethos is to honour considered and functional design.

Inspired by the shift we’ve seen globally, and experienced personally, towards the integration of our home and work environment; we wanted to to look at innovative ways we could create functional, beautiful and adaptable pieces that work with this collective change in lifestyle.

We are proud to introduce the new Stacking Hembury Chair, for spaces of any size or shape. The individually numbered Hembury shell made using 50% wool, mounted on the clean lines of a new sleek chrome plated steel frame.

Ideally suited for transient workplaces and made for everyday. This update of the classic Hembury, has been remodelled to stack vertically. The perfect fit for those in need of versatile furniture that offers effortless design, coupled with comfort and practicality.

Like our original Hembury, the new Stacking Hembury Chair is made with the fleece of both the Herdwick and Welsh Mountain sheep.

Choose from the captivating dark grey hues of the Herdwick, with its distinctive appearance created by the lighter guard hairs which stand out on the surface. Or in contrast, the mottled Welsh Mountain with its striking marbled appearance, formed using the fleece from both the black and white Welsh Mountain sheep.

Solidwool composite material

Made with Herdwick or Welsh Mountain Wool (using the equivalent of one whole fleece in each chair!) and finished with chrome plated steel frame and legs, made in Devon.

With simple lines and timeless appeal, this is a chair to inspire.
