Who runs Solidwool?

Justin and Hannah Floyd. We are the husband and wife team behind Solidwool. 

 

The Material

What is Solidwool?

Solidwool is a unique, composite material made from wool and bio-resin. You can read more about it here. 

 

Why do you use bio-resins?

When we started Solidwool, we knew we wanted to find a new way of working with wool. Wool is a sustainable resource and our aim is to one day produce a 100% natural composite material.

The bio-resins we currently use takes us towards this aim. They have a 30% natural content and the manufacturers are constantly improving on this. Yes, there are 100% bio-resins available today, but in their current form they would not achieve a viable or quality product for Solidwool. You can read more about our material here.

 

Will the material look the same on all products?

Because we are working with a natural material there will be some variation between Solidwool products. We currently work with Herdwick wool which is a blue / grey colour so if you were to buy a range of chairs, there would be variation in the appearance of the wool, but the range would fit together as a whole.

 

Order

How can I place an order?

If you are based in the UK, you can place an order directly through the site. We use Stripe to take our online payments.

For international orders, or if you want to get a specific shipping quote, you can fill out the form on the product pages. We will get back to you within 24 hours with a shipping quote.

 

How long does it take?

Typical product lead times are shown on the product pages.

 

How can I pay for my order?

If you order directly through the site, the payment will be taken by Stripe, the secure payment service. If you place a direct order with us, we offer payment by bank transfer or PayPal. Once the funds have cleared, we will ship the order.

 

How do I know you have received my order?

We’ll send you an email as soon as we receive your order to confirm all of the details.

 

Will I have to assemble the product?

There is a small amount of assembly for our Hembury Chair and Side Table:

Hembury Chair - We send the chair as a complete leg frame and a separate Solidwool chair shell. There are 4 fixings to fit the frame to the chair - all provided in the box, along with the tool you will need. 

Hembury Side Table - The table is sent as a Solidwool top and 3 legs. These simply screw into the underside of the table.

 

Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

We ship our products worldwide.

Simply fill out the customer form and we will get back to you with a shipping quote, based on your order.

We deliver our products DDU (Deliver Duty Unpaid). Customs and import duties may be applied to international orders. Charges are the responsibility of the recipient and will vary from country to country. It is best to contact your local customs authority for further information.

 

How much will it cost to deliver?

Shipping costs are based on the weight and size of your order. Our chair is 9kg to ship and the box it is sent in is 52 x 52 x 54cm. 

As a guide, our UK shipping costs are as follows:

 

1 x Sheepskin - £3.50

4 x Coasters or Placemats - £3.50

3 x Sheepskins or 6 x Placemats - £6.50

1 x Chair - FREE

 

Returns

How do I return an unwanted item?

Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we cannot offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging. Please contact us on hannah@solidwool before any items are sent back. The returns address is: Solidwool Unit 6, Windy Corner Rattery Devon TQ10 9JZ

Please note, you are responsible for paying your own shipping costs for the returned item. These costs are non-refundable. We recommend that you should consider using a secure, signed for or registered method of delivery.

How long does it take to get a refund?

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed and your order will be credited minus shipping costs.

Sheepskins

How do I care for my British Tanned Sheepskin rug?

Hand wash or machine wash on a wool cycle, in water at 40°C using pure soap or mild detergent. DO NOT USE BLEACH. Fabric conditioner can be added prior to rinsing well. Squeeze out surplus water or lightly spin and pull into shape. Hang to dry naturally - do not put directly onto heater. Flex sheepskin as the leather dries to regain suppleness and shape. Comb wool if required.
